My day job, the one that pays for Sam my golden retriever womp around is web and application development along with digital marketing. It's a fast-paced industry with technology and moving in every direction competing in every available space and every consumer interest.

On a daily basis, I'm problem-solving. Whether it's to fix a temperamental website which was working just perfectly an hour ago, help a customer remember how to update their content management websites or just reply to an annoying email. I'm not saying I don't love my job, quite on the contrary I find it invigorating! Finding solutions to problems is something I love to do sometimes to the detriment of the paying work.

My Fiverr account has unusual requests coming through on a daily basis. I'm in two frames of mind if I should be worried about some of them but on the occasion, I get someone who's got such as great Idea I just can't stop thinking about how I could design something for them that would make it sustainable. I might sound a bit OCD but I guess that's my creed.

So when it comes to The Business Toolbox interactive workshop that Birdseed Digital puts on every month, I'm like a kid in a candy store. I have this energy to share a what I know and have learnt in this fast paced industry with people who are just starting out. Helping them utilise apps that you might find so last year but are mind blowing for the newbies.

We get together with like-minded people of all ages, all levels of experience and competence wanting to know how to get to grips and be the most productive with the technology at hand.

For the first hour, we skim over a few of the essential productivity apps and services that we feel are the most beneficial, to start their journey in purposeful productivity. Not everyone is up to speed, at first, but what makes these workshop effective is by the end of the session people have help each other, worked together and connected.

Our Business Toolbox workshop is a three-hour session, one day a week, normally a Friday over a period of three weeks. It is conducted in our training room, in Johannesburg, Fourways. Seats are limited to a maximum of eight people and bookings are first to come.

We guide you into purposeful productivity by understanding time management, digital distractions, and show you practical ways on how to be the most creative in your day by doing the things that are the most important. And set you up with a toolbox of nifty productivity tricks.

By the end of the Basic Business Toolbox workshop, you will have a high-level understanding of The G Suite from Google Cloud, Gmail, Drive and Docs. You will have signed up to and installed productivity apps such as Todoist, Evernote, LassPass and Grammary and activated some cool browser extension like Pushbullet and RescueTime.

Our Intermediary Business Toolbox workshop we'll dive further into the functionalities of The G Suite, Todoist and Evernote and sharing permissions. We will then look at more business productivity apps such as MailChimp and Asana.

The Advanced Business Toolbox then focuses deeply on the creation and delivery of digital content to build your social and business network.
